I wonder why it is so. KDE 3.5.10 builds well without hal (although the mediamanager cannot detect the removable drives unless patched).

Also, this is not KDE 3.5.10, this is TDE 3.5.13 development, and little problems like this are to be expected when dealing with the development branch.
