libogg0 conflicts with libogg0:i386 under ubuntu precise

Hi folks, I'm using trinity on a 64 bit Ubuntu precise (12.04) installation and I want to report a very annoying bug caused by a package conflict of libogg0 from the trinity repository: https://bugs.launchpad.net/trinity-desktop/+bug/977103 Since trinity's libogg0 conflicts with Ubuntu libogg0:i386 several 32 bit applications such as adobe reader can no longer be installed on 64 bit trinity installations. Is there really a conflict between libogg0 and libogg0:i386 that needs to be in the package definition or can one just remove this tag? Best Regards, Stefan

sudoers file deleted!

Hello I am desperate: I just tried to de install kde trinity and now my sudoers file got deleted, a new generated, but I do not any longer belong to this group. That is why I cannot use my PC anymore. Is re installation the only solution? thanks Uwe Brauer

openSUSE 12.2 lockup starting DM after exiting startx

I've a bunch of systems with OS 12.2, but only one or two with TDE. On the one currently wired up, which uses sysvinit-init instead of systemd init, I normally boot to runlevel 3, same as on most of my systems. If as normal user I do startx -- :1, exit TDE, and then switch to runlevel 5, the system quickly locks up completely, and puts the display in sleep mode. IIRC, this doesn't happen on KDE3 or KDE4 systems. :-( Where in the world does one begin to try to figure out the cause? Trinity 3.5.13.1 Ubuntu Precise Live/Install CD

Hello everyone! I would like to inform you that as a little Christmas gift I have prepared a live / install CD Ubuntu Precise with Trinity 3.5.13.1. Includes a basic set of Trinity components and applications, including localization in seven selected languages: English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Czech of course :) It is prepared as 64 bit and also 32 bit ISO. Running kpdf without trinity (and no admin privileges)

Hi, I'd like to run trinity parts, at least kpdf, on a machine where I have no admin privileges (it is a Debian Squeeze and runs gnome2). So far, I've: 1. downloaded the following packages: kpdf-trinity_3.5.13-0debian9+r1258283+pr3~squeeze_amd64.deb kdelibs4c2a-trinity_3.5.13-0debian9+r1261449+pr12~squeeze_amd64.deb libtqtinterface_3.5.13-0debian9+r1258011+pr2~squeeze_amd64.deb libqt3-mt_3.3.8d-0ubuntu0+sr73+pr181~squeeze_amd64.deb 2. extracted them using =dpkg-deb -x=: this creates ./usr, ./opt/trinity, etc. 3. tryed to run kpdf: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$(find opt/trinity/lib usr/lib -type d | xargs echo | sed "s; ;:;g") opt/trinity/bin/kpdf this sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH=opt/trinity/lib:opt/trinity/lib/mime:opt/trinity/lib/mime/packages:opt/trinity/lib/trinity:\ opt/trinity/lib/trinity/plugins:opt/trinity/lib/trinity/plugins/styles:\ opt/trinity/lib/trinity/plugins/designer:usr/lib:usr/lib/pkgconfig:\ usr/lib/qt3:usr/lib/qt3/plugins:usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods:\ usr/lib/qt3/plugins/imageformats In the end, kpdf is running but: 1. I throws many errors a start time: 1. complains about dcop server being absent: can I skip this? I found nothing relevant in the kpdf man page 2. could not find mime type "application octet-stream", seems to be related to 3. then says "no mime types installed" 2. file and edit menus have "No text!" names. I guess I can figure out why because kpdf is missing its files (i.e., there's no /opt/trinity/share/apps/kpdfpart/part.rc et al. in the kpdf scope), but I don't know how to fix it. Note that I copied ~/.trinity/share/apps/kpdfpart/part.rc. I'd be glad if someone has the willing to help me polishing this! I really miss kpdf at work! Trinity 3.5.11 to 3.5.13

I've been running Ubuntu 10.04/Trinity -- all fat, dumb, and happy. Especially happy. Now, while poking around at http://www.trinitydesktop.org/ I see I should be/could be using Trinity v3.5.13. I'm not. I'm running Trinty 3.5.11. sigh... My apt sources: : |$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kde3-maintainers.list |# KDE3 repositories | |deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kde3-maintainers/ppa/ubuntu lucid main |deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/kde3-maintainers/ppa/ubuntu lucid main The http://www.trinitydesktop.org/ apt sources list for 10.04/Lucid contains: deb http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity-v3.5.13/ubuntu lucid main deb-src http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity-v3.5.13/ubuntu lucid main deb http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity-builddeps-v3.5.1… lucid main deb-src http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity-builddeps-v3.5.1… lucid main So , is it enough to change my /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kde3-maintainers.list file to the trinity-v3.5.13 sources and apt-get update/upgrade? Or, will I snafu my nicely running system? Are there any gotchas? Or, do I have to upgrade through trinity-v3.5.12 first -- somehow? Slávec's tde-3.5.13.1-ubuntu-12.04.1

Happy New Year to all Thank you, Slavek, for this beautiful Christmas gift that was the "tde-3.5.13.1-ubuntu-12.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso". Everyone will have read some bitterness in my reports on the using TDE / Fedora17. I only have good things to say (until now) on installing from the CD Trinity and its operation, until the closing session window, with it's TDE icone! I even thought that I would start my everyday "Oss 11.1" with the Grub freshly installed! But that dream was too deep! So no screen definition problem / unstability ( /-: but I have booted only once). I will probably inhibit SeLinux as soon as possible. With Fedora, things have been much improved after the system updates. But with Ubuntu-12/TDE, I have not found the graphical update tools, the name of which I've forgotten, in the "10.10 TDE enterprise". It seems to me that there were several of these tools. Problems with Firefox 16.0.2

Since installing the recent update to FF 16.0.2, I have been having constant issues. Sometimes as often as 3-4 times a day (other times it works ok for a couple of days at a time), FF will appear as though it has lost all access to the internet. Any tabs that I try to reload will just sit there and spin. 'Top' does not show any processes running out of control, and if I close and restart FF, everything works normally. I have not noticed any pattern to the sites I'm visiting when it stops working. It does not appear to be related to flash content, and sometimes I come back to my computer to see it stuck trying to reload a page, so it appears to lose its connection even when not being actively used. I do not have any proxies or other special setting for my network - it's just a straight connection to the local LAN. I had assumed it was just my computer, but today my wife informed me that she has also been having the same problems for the past week. Both systems are running Ubuntu 11.04 (natty), and all updates have been applied. I can't really work from a new profile because I need my bookmarks and plugins for daily work, and as I mentioned this problem does not immediately show up. However if anyone has other suggestions that I could look into, or if you have run across any other threads from people having similar problems, please let me know.

sound in TDE on openSUSE

Does TDE have a preference for either alsa or pulseaudio? The last 12.2 system I installed TDE on has no sound currently.
