skype and pulse audio

Hi I'm trying to get skype sound to work but apparently the monkeys at MS removed alsa support and replaced it with pulse, which is rubbish. Even though I have pulse enable (pclos - ali's remaster), it still doesn't show up. Is there a fix to re-enable alsa or the like? Kate

Porting individual trinity programs to Android

Hi there. I've got a really great Amarok playlist of songs that I find help me concentrate. I've looked for a means of playing such a playlist on Android without success. If anyone has succeeded in porting a TDE program to Android it would maybe bring this dream a little closer. Please tell me I'm not the only one with such a dream :) Regards, Philip Ashmore

Attached is a cumulative patch for tdebase that you can use to preview the new Kate session panel I mentioned before. You can apply the patch again the current main trunk. This will add a new session panel to Kate and rework session support almost entirely. I am actually planning more work on this (to add support for files in sessions as well, making it similar to a mini-project manager) but will probably be delayed to R14.2 or whatever. !!! Please NOTE the following !!! - all existing Kate sessions will be imported - the "default session" is no longer hardwired and actually does not really need to exist any more (it can be renamed/delete) - after you finish your testing, if you want to go back to the existing Kate (without the new session panel), you will NOT be able to use the session files from Kate-with-the-session-panel. Therefore if you just want to do a test, I recommend you save all you session files (~/.trinity/share/apps/kate/sessions folder) before you use the new Kate. So far I have used this for about a year (through development) and have not yet pushed the code to the main repo. Any feedback from you (or anyone else willing to test) would be more than welcome. TDE 14.0.4 on Debian Stretch, tdm-trinity, tdeinit problem

Hello to all. I'm a long-time TDE user running TDE 14.0.4 amd64 on Debian 9.x Stretch (unstable, actually Siduction, using systemd). It works well, although I occasionally run into minor issues that I eventually solve. It is after all "unstable". Over the last few weeks a problem remains, binutils_2.27-9_amd64.deb works fine, but several updates of this program which can be loaded by itself, most recently binutils_2.27.90.201612331-1_amd64.deb, all render the system unbootable. The boot cycle proceeds from sda1 without any errors but the tdm signon comes up with a black background rather the normal blue TDE one. When I logon I get an error message and TDE does not load, showing a problem with my home partition on sda5: Could not read connection list /home/lsm1/.DCOPserver_LSM1_0 Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running When I hit Enter I then get: Could not start tdeinit, Check your installation. This problem is specific to TDE as I can still load the backup desktop LXQT by the usual logon from the TDE signon box. When I boot to the console and downgrade to binutils_2.27-9_amd64.deb everything works as usual on the reboot. If anyone has any possible solutions I'd be happy to try them out and report back. -- SENT BY: Lynn McCarty

installing on uefi multiboot.

greets! I want to install Trinity on a multiboot uefi system. I think I've messed up the uefi already so I am wary about doing something that renders the system unbootable. (will of course do backup but still...) it's got Windows 7 and NetRunner on it. csm is turned on (which I think is part of the problem) and of course secure boot and fast boot are off. when it boots it goes into BIOS, ok UEFI, and I can choose or it defaults to Linux. my preference would be to have a grub interface but so be it for now. suppose I now install Trinity. should I let it write to the mbr or rather to its own partition? if you know a good (detailed but essentials highlighted) online reference, that would be great. as yet I'm confused about the logic of uefi. thanks for advice! f. -- Felmon Davis Data, n.: An accrual of straws on the backs of theories.

This year we are have fallen significantly short of breaking even on the monthly expenses needed to keep TDE online and under active development; these expenses primarily consist of electricity for the TDE servers and Internet bandwidth. I have been covering the shortfall for several years now, but it has become a great strain over the past few months. If you would prefer to offer financial rewards for fixing specific bugs, that works too, but the bottom line is we need additional financial support to avoid further service cuts that could slow / stop development. We are not in a position to outsource portions of the TDE infrastructure beyond what has already been migrated to external systems such as the mirror distribution system. Attempting to split up the remaining core would simply incur even higher bandwidth costs than what we already have, and altering the stable, running system at this point could end up halting development entirely. Finally, I'd like to personally thank those individuals who have donated, are hosting portions of the TDE infrastructure such as the mirror system and backup site, or have been actively working on TDE development over the past year. [OT] question about ultrabook

hey, I'm considering the zenbook ux330ua. I've found people online saying they successfully installed Mint or some other Linux variant; so I'm confident about Trinity. (I got Trinity on a ux305f, no problem, also Windows 7.) I'd prefer Windows 7 on it instead of Windows 10. I see no one who's undertaken this and no drivers on Asus's site. can I infer from the fact that Linux will install that Windows 7 will LIKELY install also? or a complete leap in the dark? More Q4OS weirdnesses

As I allready said, Q4OS's implementation of TDE is missing many elements that have to be installed afterwards, if you wish to have the usual services. Several elements of TDE settings are not installed in the default option. The latest I've discovered is elements of TDE settings present, but not working: TDE settings opens to an icon vue. There are Icons, but a click opens the *.desktop file in kedit. Example for "File Association": [Desktop Entry] Icon=filetypes Type=Application Exec=tdecmshell filetypes X-DocPath=kcontrol/filetypes/index.html Categories=Qt;TDE;X-TDE-settings-components; X-TDE-Library=filetypes X-TDE-ParentApp=kcontrol Name=File Associations Name[af]=Lêer Assosiasies Name[ar]=ارتباطات الملفات Name[az]=Fayl Əlaqələri Name[be]=Асацыяцыі файлаў (***) A workaround is to execute "tdecmshell filetypes" Obviously, the problem is a missing association, as if I copy the *.desktop file to my openSuSE system, everything works fine. But what is this association? x-desktop has no association in my settings. However, TDE/openSuSE opens *.desktop files correctly, as programs or as tdecmshell whatever... Where to look for information? Thierry

Regarding the current PayPal / BitCoin options, the only other option I am aware of is Google Pay to possibly accept donations. I have personally avoided Google Pay because it would seem to centralize too much information (personal life + financial information) in one location, however it is one of the only other alternatives to PayPal.
