kmail on headless debian

I just setup a VM to run a headless debian and kmail. The idea is to ssh -X into that deb VM and forward kmail to whatever OS I'm in, so sorta poor man's mail server. I just installed debian without desktop task, then added trinity repos and installed kmail-trinity. Calling /opt/....kmail however nothing at all happens. Kmahjongg error

Running Trinity on Scientific Linux 6, just installed today. When I attempt to launch Kmahjongg, I get a message: "KMahjongg could not locate the file: or the default file of type: tqlayout KMahjongg will now terminate" So I click "OK" and get another: "An error occurred when loading the board tqlayout KMahjongg will now terminate." Then it launches with an empty field, no tiles, and can't load any games. Is there something I can do to fix this? kcmshell/kcontrol in Nightly Builds (Debian Wheezy)

I cannot configure my virtual desktops: If I enter the configuration dialog by right-clicking the Pager and choosing "configure desktops", kcmshell goes to 100% cpu load and becomes unresponsive. Sending with kmail 3.5.13.1

Hi For sending with kmail I have to select the "via" each time whether from the addon to the uparrow icon in the composer window or subsequently from the File > Send queued messages > via. How do I set it to just click on up arrow icon in composer window and have it sent from outbox, just have one sending account. I don't remember any problem setting that way before and single click send is the habit of quite a few years. In Configure - Accounts - Setup for sending and receiving messages Confirm before send is unchecked Send messages in outbox folder "on all mail checks" Default send method "send now" Have to do the File > Send queued messages > via thing even afer several mail checks or it stays in the outbox

A Simple-Safe Way to Retrofit Your System from KDE4 to Trinity (Almost)

Hi Timothy, I'm new to your list, and I am thrilled there is a Trinity fork. I retreated from the bleeding edge of Fedora 8 and then Kubuntu 9.04 three years ago to Centos 5.5 because of the KDE4 nightmare. Linux had become a chaotic minefield of cosmetic frenzy with no functionality leadership anymore and KDE3 was the last hope of stable continuity. Now to take my whole new terrace of application technology <http://www.metacalculus.com> to a new cloud server I had provisioned a Centos 6.2 VPS. Oops, the RedHat/Centos crowd has followed the cosmetic herd to KDE4. So I thought maybe I'd give it another try. Silly me. When I tried to move my desktop apps from Centos 5.5, I realized I would have to rebuild my whole interface. Screw that. So I started looking for an alternative, and I found you guys. Unfortunately, I had already installed moved all my Perl infrastructure with an upgrade to perl 5.10.1, Postgresql 8.4, PHP 5.3 etc. so I could install RT4, Mojolicious, Dancer, WordPress, and Drupal7. i had already done all that before I looked at mapping my KDE desktop apps to the plasma swamp. So, now dreading the uninstall of KDE4 and install of Trinity on this otherwise loaded server, I thought I might have a way of getting above it all, using Yumex. And it almost worked. I've never been a big fan of Gnome, but have used it occasionally. So I used Yumex to install Gnome, and then logged-in to Gnome with the intention of using Yumex to selectively remove all the KDE4 packages, except those shared by KDE and Gnome. It worked almost. Here is the scheme: Buried deep down in the Centos website, there is a section on RedHat/Fedora Trinity Repository Installation Instructions: cd /etc/yum.repos.d wget http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity/rpm/el6/trinity-… So I did that, and the Yumex packages window now had all the trinitiy packages, which I could check to have installed. But first I had to remove KDE4: *Yumex Pass 1 - Remove KDE4* 1. In Package window, click *Installed* radio button, 2. Search for 'KDE', which will fill the window with all installed packages that KDE employs, in green text, 3. Click on each one in which the rhs description says is part of KDE, this will respond with the garbage can icon so you no it is set to be deleted. 4. Be sure not to check packages used by both Gnome and KDE, like Xorg-x11-server.Xorg or htdig. But if you are unsure, Yum will detect the errors in its dependency check and print errors in red in the output, refusing to continue, because you are proposing to delete packages that remaining packages depend upon. 5. Click Apply to start Yum processing. If no errors appear, you can allow Yumex to continue to delete all of the KDE4 packages. *Yumex Pass 2 - Install Trinity* 1. In Package window, click Available Radio Buttion; 2. Search on 'trinity', which will fill the Package window with all of the Trinity packages; 3. Review the list and their descriptions, and check all the ones you need; 4. Click Apply to start installing Trinity. This time TDE installed without a hitch. But now I am unable to connect using NX into Gnome. It acts like what was described in the #bug985202 discussion. Cannot run kcmshell apps

Hello, Using Trinity 3.5.13 in Exegnu. In a System Settings app, when I try to enter administrative mode, my password is not accepted. Same thing from the command line, for example, kdesu /opt/trinity/bin/kcmshell 'kde-clock.desktop', and none of kdesudo, gksu, gksudo work either. Any ideas? Robert

Puzzling problems with printing and scanning in Trinity 3.5.13 with Slavko's repositories added.

Hi all! I have had the following cris de coeur from the user of a computer that I administer. "The old system" means Debian Lenny with KDE 3.5.10, which is still there on a separate partition and can be booted into from Grub. I had previously successfully installed Debian Squeeze with Trinity 3.5.12 on his wife's laptop without a problem, and it is running well, including printing and scanning. The installation for the wife was from scratch and there was nothing to restore. The husband had a lot to restore. The printer and scanner form part of an aio, a Lexmark Interact C605. The initial problem with the printer was that when I came to install it on a 64 bit system (Lenny had been 32 bit) I found that the driver was only available in a 32 bit version. I found a 64 bit driver - not on Lexmark's site, of course :-( - and all seemed to be well. The story carries on below in emails from the owner of the machines. I am baffled as to how a driver can work one minute and not the next. :-( I do hope that I haven't managed to install some sort of malware masquerading as a driver. 12/08/07 (yy/mm/dd) <quote> We still have some snags with the new system I'm afraid. 1)The scanner will not work although it still does in the old system so I know the scanner is working OK. 2)The printer works from e-mail OK except that it will not print attachments which are in PDF although I can read them aok. </quote> 12/08/16 <quote> The printer which was working aok in the new system (apart from pdf format)has now ceased to function completely again although it is working still in the old system. </quote> His wife can still print from her laptop. Any suggestions for solutions, other than reinstall with 32 bit and Trinity 3.5.12, gratefully received. Though this is beginning to look like the only viable solution. I ought, of course, to have checked, before I abandoned 32 bit, that all the necessary drivers were available in 64 bit. :-( Thanks, Lisi
