Hi,
I found, that the management tool (login configuration from within control
center) for config kdm, creates the wrong user "Root" (with upper case "R")
in kdmrc, if one selects, that only root can shut down the computer.
Than the computer just stops with a console I have to login as root and
powerdown the machine.
So it is at least only a typo.
System: Debian wheezy with trinity 3.5.13

High all,
now again an active post from me, obviously with a problem report.
Basic info: I'm running OpenSuse 13.1 with
TDE 3.5.13.2-3.oss131.opt.x86-64
Because somehow I couldn't get TDE's display manager to run, the one
in use is KDE4's, kdm-4.11.9-111.1.x86_64.
Today I was hinted to quassel for an IRC client, checked the Suse
repos, found and installed it. The installer reported as the only
unresolved dependency for quassel-mono (monolithic/stand-alone
package, nothing to do with the Mono runtime) the evenly provided
quassel-base package, which I confirmed to also install.
During the installation process, kicker crashed and when it was
attempted to be respawned, the CPU load increased to 50% overall
(2core HT current i5-M). The load was partially from kicker,
partially from kbuildsycoca. After killing both, I tried to
manually run kicker again, but the same happened, just with only
one thread worth of CPU load occupied.
"init 3" (I know it's not the same with systemd, but...) didn't even
kill kbuildsycoca. After manually killing it, I switched back to
RL 5, and I got the greeter screen (background), but no entry fields
or menus or whatever --- the CPU load was again at 25%.
After uninstalling the two quassel packages, I switched to RL 3 and
back to 5 again, but there was no difference. I rebooted the box,
and was prompted with the usual greeter, including the user/passwd
fields etc., entered the password and the same happened again:
25% CPU load, in kbuildsycoca. I attached gdb to it, without really
knowing what I should look for, but maybe one of you can read some
valuable information from the backtrace:

gdb has also complained about plenty of missing debuginfo files for many
libraries involved with kbuildsycoca.
/proc/$(pidof kbuildsycoca)/maps lists

which covers all three unknown functions in the backtrace. If you want
me to install it to exactly see which functions these are, just let me
know.
(Just btw: /opt is a symbolic link to /usr/local/opt.)

I have at home a HP ProLiant ML370 G4 server that I bought in a garage sale at the beginning of the summer. It is in fully working condition with Debian 7.5 on it.
Here are the specs:
Year: approx 2004
CPU: 2 physical Intel Xeon 3.20Ghz CPU with Hyper-Threading, so the OS sees 4 cores
Ram: 2gb, with many free memory slots
Network: 2 server-grade EtherNet cards
Graphic card: Ati Rage XL
HDD: 3x Ultra320 SCSI 72.8gb 10000rpm, now in hardware RAID 0
Optical drive: DVD reader/burner: I replaced the original CD drive.
Other: Tape backup drive, floppy drive, 3 USB 2.0, fully redundant fans, double power supply
Weight: approx 90-100lbs
This server is very fast, but I don't have much use for it.
I'd like to know if it still has a money value, and how much would it still worth in production? I want to sell it, but I have no idea of what could be a fair/good price for it. Could it be useful for this project?

the debut of our new website (https://www.trinitydesktop.org)!
The new site provides a cleaner and easier to use interface without
sacrificing availability of any information. In fact, several items were
added, including a new FAQ page and application documentation.
Additionally, per popular request we have transitioned from our old
FOSWIki installation to a new MediaWiki installation, with all old content
having been migrated over the course of several months. This should make
it much easier to add new content to the TDE knowledge base.

It is compelling..great hardware..but..It is 10 years old, eons in
server tech years, mostly the energy required to run such a beast.
Our Linux user group has recieved one or two of these as
donations..great learning tool, no one wanted to run them at home
though.

Hi all,
I have made changes in kcontrol > peripherals > keyboard (repeat
delay/rate).
This works great when I boot up the computer.
However, if I use a KVM switch to go to another computer and come back,
the keyboard repeat delay and rate are messed up (probably default
settings, not my settings.)
What can I do about this, so that my keyboard repeat settings will be
automatically applied when a (new) keyboard is plugged in / replugged?
I can see that it is possible to set something up through udev, but I
don't know how to script TDE changes that appear to require the GUI. How
to script this? Or perhaps udev is not the right approach?

Thanks for the info; hadn't thought to check it in Konqueror.
I'm not sure I can fix it; Konqueror's broken HTML rendering is a known
problem but I haven't gotten around to seeing what would be required to
replace KHTML with Webkit. That process will be lengthy and won't happen
for R14 in any case.

Hi,
I used apt-get dist-upgrade last night, as I usually do when package updates become available on R14. After the latest update, I started Kontact: KMail works fine, as usual. But when I clicked on Kalendar, I got a "Kontact Error: Impossible to load the calendar module; can't open the module".
I went to Configure Kalendar and got a message saying something like :
"Could not find the specified korganizer library. Diagnostic is : can't open the module. Possible reasons:
*An error occured during your latest TDE update, leaving an orphan configuration module.
*You have a third party module somewhere." (as far as I know, I don't).
I use Ubuntu Precise with TDE-R14 nightly builds on a 64-bit system. I need to get my Korganizer working again: I am fully dependent on it for all my appointments. Any suggestions? I checked this trinity discussion site several times to see if anyone else had the same problem: seems not so.
