Hi
I'm trying to get skype sound to work but apparently the monkeys at MS removed
alsa support and replaced it with pulse, which is rubbish. Even though I have
pulse enable (pclos - ali's remaster), it still doesn't show up. Is there a
fix to re-enable alsa or the like?

Hello all,
I've installed openSUSE 42.2 and so upgraded to TDE 14.0.4 (previously I
couldn't on my old 13.1, something broke so I stayed at 14.0.0).
I don't know which of the two is responsible, but now, when I plug in an
external drive, it gets mounted twice. On my desktop I see the drive itself,
and the partition. For example, when I plug in my 16GB mac formated usb key,
I get both "14.8 GB removable device", mounted on /deb/sdg,
and "macUSBDrive", mounted on /dev/sdg1.
Of course the former throws an error if I try to open it.
This is not so bad and I can live with it, but I wonder where this is
distribution specific, machine specific or if you all see this too.
Regards,
Thierry

What is your default Desktop manager? Nautilus being the default file manager
for gdm, I could imagine a link.
I've seen Gnome 3 bloquing TDE in some distributions. Maybe there is something
like that with Ubuntu? As I don't run Ubuntu and don't have nautilus
installed I never saw this behaviour.

after dumping about 4 minutes of TOP to a file I found the culprit.
Nautilus causes this background change. now the question How did this
app start in the first place?

in addition to what looks like the unity screen... the Kicker panel is
still there with the proper apps present and/or running and all icons
respond properly.
I remember this happening before, and I ended up deleting the .trinity
directory, losing all my settings, email etc. got to be an easy way.

All of a sudden one of my desktops changed to what looks like the Unity
display. Right click on desktop only shows new folder and organize by
name.If I add a desktop it switches to new desktop, while the other
desktop reverts back to TDE. If I delete the new desktop , the (unity)
desktop goes back to prior DT. I can't seem to make it permanently gone.

Oh, and while on the topic ... When this system is replaced, which
graphics card should I get? I am NOT a heavy user of the video
capabilities of any card, just want something that Just Works. :-)

Hi,
I am using Trinity with Ubuntu 14.04 everyday and did not encounter any
OS specific bug for two years so I would recommend 14.04 too.

All,
Just a quick reminder that our yearly fundraiser is under way. So far
results have been somewhat disappointing, so I'd like to ask: what would
you (reasonably) like to see us do before contributing a little something
to the project?
Thanks!
Tim
