skype and pulse audio

Hi I'm trying to get skype sound to work but apparently the monkeys at MS removed alsa support and replaced it with pulse, which is rubbish. Even though I have pulse enable (pclos - ali's remaster), it still doesn't show up. Is there a fix to re-enable alsa or the like? Kate

Hi, With a CentOS minimal installation the tde session doesn't start. Installing over gnome (gdm) or mate (lightdm) it works. Any tips?

Mageia 6 crash on login, can't start desktop

Hi all, I'm having a trouble getting Trinity working on Mageia 6. I've installed via the official URPMI repositories, using the trinity-desktop package to ensure all dependencies are present. Note, I've got Trinity running OK on my laptop with Mageia 6, but on my desktop system it's badly broken for reasons I can't trace. My desktop uses an NFS mounted home directory and and is a dual-monitor system. If I use TDM as the login manager, the I get dropped out of X back to the terminal, TDM seems to be unable to start at all. I've switched to LightDM, which fixed this but TDE isn't listed as an available desktop in the relevant menu. Fixing this required a symbolic link from /opt/trinity/share/apps/tdm/sessions/tde.desktop to /usr/share/xsessions. If I login the initial splash screen appears, but I then get a crash message which closes before I can read the details, I then get dumped back at the login manager. If I login using XFCE and try to run starttde, then I get same behaviour and again, the crash handler vanishes before I can get at anything useful. I've tried using a clean user account and also running this as root, but there is no difference, the start up just crashes. I've audited my system and have removed all the left behind Mageia 5 packages, so the installation is clean as far as I can tell. TDE programmes such as konqueror, kate etc start up OK running on XFCE. Any help much appreciated, I'm somewhat lost without my Trinity desktop and this is my primary work computer. Installation questions

When I run: sudo apt-get update and then sudo aptitude install tde-trinity to install TDE on my 64-bit stretch system, some of the things I see are sufficiently concerning that I don't want to go ahead and allow the installation without further guidance and confirmation that I'm not about to break something important. [I think that the answer is yes, but I would like some assurance from someone who is more certain than am I.] 2. And then what about desktop-base? The version that is currently installed is from the official debian stable repository, so I don't think that I should be removing it. So what should I do about this conflict? This adds a session panel to Kate to easy and enhance working with sessions. I have been using it for a couple of years, while slowly developing it. In future I envision more functionality added to it, although finding the time to develop that could be a serious challenge. Just three things to look out for: 1) the format of Kate's session files has changed, the new code will import all your session files and save them with some differences. So if you are just planning to test the new code to see how it works and then revert to an older version, it is recommended that you make a backup of your session files before you start and you restore them at the end of the process 2) with the new code, the "default" session is no longer hardcoded. You can rename it, delete it or do whatever you want. 3) a "read-only session" is a session where you can do whatever editing you want (and all the editing will be saved!). But when you close Kate or switch to another session, the session file will not be modified and the next time the session will open with the same GUI-state (same open files, same panel positions and so on...). Printer Problem

Greetings, I am using EXE-Linux and having a problem installing my Brother HL-2135 printer. Using other distros I have had no problems, other than resorting to using the driver for the 2170W model sometimes. When I select any of the drivers offerered in the 21 series of printer in TDEPrint I get the following message: "Unable to find the executable foomatic datafile in your PATH. Check that Foomatic is correctly installed". Can anyone help please. -- W. Devon
