Greetings all; On the next kmail update would it be possible to add a popup for the case of the indice fixing when it gets lost? The time lag between clicking on the OK in that event, can be long enough you've forgotten you started kmail once already, and its cpu load while doing that is quite minimal, and I suspect half or more of my indice problems are probably caused by two copies of kmail fighting over the indice files. So some sort of an I'm busy advisory popup might prevent me from starting another copy. Leave it up until the main window is opened and its ready for business. Thank you. Cheers, Gene Heskett --

kmail weirdness

hi, everybody . . . so i'm using tde 14.0.5 atop ubuntu 18.04. all was tickety boo until yesterday, when kmail would no longer connect and download my mail after due course it says the connection to the server unexpectedly closed. after fiddling with this for awhile, i decided it might be useful to start kmail from the cl and see what it had to say. it was this: [TDE NM Backend ERROR] [/build/buildd/tdelibs-trinity-14.0.5/tdecore/tdehw/networkbackends/network-manager/network-manager.cpp:1707] Attempting to access the network-manager VPN service returned: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.VPN.Plugin was not provided by any .service files dep@dep-desktop:~$ WeaverThreadLogger: thread (ID: 1) suspended. Differences between Stable and R14.0.x repos on OpenSuSE (Was: Konqueror crashes)

For R14.0.5 (Stable), OpenSuSE has two repositories: * http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity/rpm/opensuse15.0/trini… * http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity/rpm/opensuse15.0/trini… for R14.0.x, there appears to be only one repository: * http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/PunisherHD:/Trinity:/r14.0.… YaST seems to be happy with this single repository, but I just wanted to make sure if there is indeed only a single one for R14.0.x, or if I've missed something, or if it's supposed to work with the R14.0.5 noarch? Also, when migrating from R14.0.5 to R14.0.x, should I uninstall and reinstall (which seems safest)? Thanks, Leslie

Hi All, Using the Debian/Devuan instructions I successfully installed TDE on MX Linux. I started with a copy of the Devuan installation page and added a few extra bits I would have wanted if I’d seen the page ‘cold’ or been a noob as they say. It’s here: https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/MX_Linux_Trinity_Repository_Installation_In… Be gentle, it’s my first time ;) # # # As a side note, it’s a pretty nice distribution. Full disk encryption (FDE) seems to work, even the un-mounting during shutdown (which is broken on Devuan). And in the useless but cool category it has a ‘battery’ applet that populates the taskbar that even shows the percent power left in the battery of my wireless mouse. I’m pretty sure it migrated over from Xfce that’s installed by default? Best, Michael

It this normal?

Sort of following on from my "unable to sftp://" issue: I've never watched the remote server logs before when using sftp:// , but it appears the ssh-key authentication occurs every time I move from directory-to-directory on my remote server. Is that suppose to happen? (It just may be yet another bizarre result of the "unable to sftp://" issue.) Upgrading Ubuntu16.04/Trinity14.04

Trinity configuration & how to disable events audio sound?

Hi, I'm currently using some Trinity apps (kpdf, amarok, ksnapshot, konqueror) into another window manager (wmii, then i3). Since I stopped using Trinity as my main desktop years ago (I changed machine and reinstalled Debian without Trinity) I'm only using the aforementioned packages. Now, *applications such as kpdf and konqueror cannot be configured* anymore, or only partly. Through years, I've already spent a lot of time trying to find a package for the missing configuration tools & config files for the event sounds without success for the following: * Things don't know how to configure: kpdf: - Where should I tell it not to emit any event sound? konqueror: - Basic preferences like "View Mode" (tree view, etc.) - Menu Settings / Configure Konqueror : I got an empty window - Where should I tell it not to emit any event sound? * Things can configure: kpdf: - Keyboard shorcuts: ~/.trinity/share/apps/kpdfpart/part.rc konqueror: - Bookmarks amarok & ksnapshot: all seems OK. Lost ability to sftp via konqueror

Happy New Year to all. I just noticed I can no longer sftp in konqueror to sites I normally "visit". It's been a week or 2 since I last used the feature, but I think a Trinity update may have caused this snafu. I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 with Trinity 14.0.6 using the Preliminary Stable Builds repository. konqueror "claims" it's connecting, but it just hangs after that. I see _nothing_ concerning the attempt in either the local or remote logs. Every failure in konqueror works Just Fine when replicated on the command line. E.G., sftp://UserID:PASSword@example.com fails in konqueror sftp UserID:PASSword@example.com connects just fine on the command line ... as well, it fails on sites where I use SSH Key-Based Authentication. And, again, it works Just Fine at the command line. Anyone else confirm?
