I'm not really sure what's changed
because it was working fine before. My
initial thoughts are to find out how TDE opens "in an application based
on the contents" and just assign it to xdg but I'm unsure of what that is
or where to find it.
AFAIR it is in the TDE configuration (Control Center) >> Components >> File
Associations.
There you can set the programs and priority to use for any extention
