It happened to me. It was the result of installing the basic Trinity
Desktop according to the instructions for Squeeze. The cute background
image with the Debian rocket is gone when I reboot for a kernel update.
There are a few other packages gone, and now apt complains I need to use
auto-remove to take out a huge collection of GNOME stuff. I can ignore
that, but I'm not liking it. I realize this comes from having installed
GNOME desktop first, but I have a strong reason for keeping that as the
default.
So the question remains: How much of the Trinity DE do I need to make it
functional without breaking the GNOME meta-package?
