I have downloaded the Debian package big-cursor
(I have sadly given up
on comixcursors for now - I'll try again in Stretch). It is definitely
there:

But I cannot find a way of persuading Trinity Control Centre mouse
themes to see it.
Any suggestions? Or any other suggestions as to how I can get a large,
preferably red, cursor (but any large one will do) in Debian 8 and
Trinity 14?
Thanks.

You can install some package with "cursor theme" - for example
crystalcursors, comixcursors-righthanded, xcursor-themes,...
I installed two more, oxygen and crystal, and with the correction of PEBKAC (
which was all that was wrong with the dmz cursors :-( ), and Nik's advice I
am, I think, home and dry for now.
It is a pity about comixcursors in Jessie. They are what I used to use. I
have still not got around to that Stretch installation I was going to do.
Other people's projects get priority. :-( I must hurry up and do so and see
if the large comixcursors cursors work again.
Thank you very much for your help. Much appreciated as always.
