As of this point in time, I find that if I log
in as root in a text console, ignoring
the GUI login for the moment, then I can "startx" and it will get me there.
But
there's no obvious way to choose what desktop I want, so even though I have
several installed (TDE is coming soon! :-) I'm stuck in Xfce.
Anybody know how to fix either of these things?
Man startx.
A front end to xinit, it says.
I'm sure that the info I'm looking for has to be documented *somewhere*, but I
haven't found it yet... :-(
Try creating a ~/.xinitrc for root with "exec starttde" inside (or try
starttde's full path). I
don't know if the system will pick up your xrandr settings with that setup, though,
since that's never been a concern for me (and I use a completely different distro
anyway).
