Hi,
I'm using kmail to manage my work email (which is an exchange server)
accessing it through IMAP. Is it possible to also sync calendars
through trinity as well?

Yes, TDE supports caldav and carddav, though I'm not sure how much testing
those plugins have received over the past couple of years. You can access
those feaures through KOrganizer.
