Right-click on the desktop, select Create New... > Link to Application from the context menu, and enter the command in the appropriate box in the Application tab in the resulting dialogue. Then configure the name and icon for the desktop entry in the General tab.
I have landed up with a very peculiar icon, but it works! That you very much.
I now have a beautiful Evince icon that works. Terrific! Thanks again.
