remove Plymouth?

I got Trinity installed a few hours ago after an initial minimal HTTP Lucid install, which had left me with a clean text only boot process. Now with kubuntu-desktop-KDE3 installed I also have the Plymouth GUI nonsense. apt-get remove plymouth wants to remove virtually the entire system.
