but I'm worried about the mail and addresses etc. And if the problem is in
the configuration files, backing them up and reinstalling them would just

Hi Lisi,
no answer to your question but - when I open a mail in its window I
can use CTRL and the mousewheel to enlarge the font to really big
size.
And I just tested - it works in the main Kmail window as well.
