A web search on "display.im6: color is not known to server" pulls up _only_ two references to the error message, and one of them is : From: Paul Cartwright <pbcartwright@...> Date: Mon, 25 Nov 2013 13:54:28 -0500 Subject: Imagemagick error

Only I do not see that he ever got a reply, nor do I see any fix or work-around for the problem.
If I shorten up the search for just "color is not known to server", I see a lot more hits for what seems to be the same problem. But, still, I see no fixes or work-arounds (yet).
I use `display` A LOT in desktop objects and I really need this fixed or circumvented.
"display" shows amarok_rocks.jpg here without problems (R14.0.0). There has to be a difference in settings. Just a shot into the dark: Can you have a look in Settings>Appearance&Themes>Colors if you have checked or un-checked "Apply colors to non-TDE applications"? Mine is un-checked.
Yes this is caused by this setting but it should not. It seems that /opt/trinity/share/apps/tdedisplay/app-defaults is sourced to xrdb without replacing color definitions with actual values which should be taken from tde color schemes.
there are several oddities related to this. i posted earlier a screenshot of the lacie lightscribe labeler which had foreground and background both black unless that option is unchecked. oddly, unchecking it changed numerous attributes of both non-tde and tde applications -- and rechecking it rebroke the things that were broken, but did not repair the things it itself broke. in particular, menu and icon text got tiny.
weird.
