up _only_ two references to the error message, and one of them

Only I do not see that he ever got a reply, nor do I see any fix or
work-around for the problem.
If I shorten up the search for just "color is not known to server", I
see a lot more hits for what seems to be the same problem. But, still,
I see no fixes or work-arounds (yet).
I use `display` A LOT in desktop objects and I really need this fixed or
circumvented.
"display" shows amarok_rocks.jpg here without problems
(R14.0.0). There
has to be a difference in settings. Just a shot into the dark: Can you
have a look in
Settings>Appearance&Themes>Colors
if you have checked or un-checked "Apply colors to non-TDE applications"?
Mine is un-checked.
