hmmm, today KDE logged in just fine no lockup.... also no other updates ether... freaky glitch maybe?

No problem here. Have been running Ubuntu-9.4 with kde-3.5.10 and *ALL* updates on two Dell Latitude E6500 laptops with NVIDIA graphics card. So far so good.
