You can check by calling `mount` (with no arguments) from the command
line. Look for your USB disk, it will show the disk type. (Probably
vfat.)
of course! didn't think. it's vfat.
maybe I'll sacrifice a usb stick and reformat it to test for the problem although

the problem.
Ran into this old email. The problem has been fixed some time ago and is currently in
PSB/PTB. Will also be in R14.0.10
when released.
