The point is that all Qt3 apps removed on both installation and deinstallation of KDE3.
If you use synaptic package manager you have a fine-grained control of
what gets removed. Under "Custom Filters -> Marked Changes" you can
uncheck the packages slated for removal before hitting "apply" button.
Linux is still by and large a manually controlled OS. With apt-get,
dpkg and synaptic you can control your installed base to a great
degree.
