Hi dep,
I wish there were a utility -- I understand why there can't really be
one -- that would go over a system and identify everything that is no
use to anyone anymore and never will be.
Deborphan is a good start. Will clear packages-leftovers from older
deleted packages. But still a lot of "garbage" will be left and as you
tolerated that to be installed, you must clean it up yourself.
