Did you see this thread? http://trinity-users.pearsoncomputing.net/?0::4119
No - I did not join this list until Dec.2.
But that thread puzzles me when it says:
"KDE3 conflicts with TDE. Until we find a trick, we cannot use both on the same computer."
as it contradicts what Francois just said:
"...you can have both of them working at the same time." !
Sorry I made a mistake by answering too fast . You should read: "you can NOT have both at the same time".
So far I am quite happy with TDE on Mageia-2, but I wish I had known about your suggestion earlier today:
"Before you login into TDE, switch to tty[1-6] and login as user. Then, 'cp -a .kde .trinity', go back to login window, log into TDE, and look around"!
This trick mayl work only with a KDE3 profile (Nowadays, only people using openSUSE are concerned I think). If you try it with a KDE4 profile (I think you have KDE4 since you are using Mageia 2), I think it will not work at all.
I have been delaying moving to Mageia-2 because of the poor state of the Akonadified KMail, but now with TDE installed I am hoping - after trying TDE for a while - to move over to Mageia-2 permanently.
I am assuming I don't *need* to remove any of KDE4...
No you don't need to remove anything from KDE4. The conflict exists only with opensuse's KDE3. There are no problem with KDE4, in any distribution.
