oh, i overlooked that tart with ":1.0".
try this:
$ xhost +
$ su
# DISPLAY=:0 synaptic
# DISPLAY=:0 synaptic

(synaptic:10481): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0
maybe I should reinstall synaptic..
