It's very simple, really: Just include the minimum necessary to let readers
know what you're replying to, and maintain continuity in the thread.
Usually that's no more than a few lines, and rarely more than one level of
quotes.
And when the original topic (say, about installing
Icecat) suddenly veers into
philosophy and politics and Big Brother, etc., this really ought to be turned
into a completely new, separate thread.
Speaking of which, let's try to keep this on topic, which is endless levels
of untrimmed quotes followed by a very short reply.
