However, I don't recall firefox's bin files being in /opt/, but rather in /usr/lib/firefox-esr/ with a symlink to /usr/bin/. by looking in Settings / Configure Konqueror / File Associations.

By the Konqueror settings above, I find a good working Konqueror as before.
If I wrote using Konqueror as root, it was just to test it.
