This morning, I had to restart because the Gnome desktop started to win
its
little fight with TDE and changed the background to the default image and
all the icons to the Gnome style. Even the typeface in Thunderbird
changed!
I didn't *have* to reboot, but I needed to change some stuff in the BIOS
anyway.
Wow, I never heard of a desktop (Gnome in this case) behaving that badly
towards another before! KDE4 does try to launch Plasma if it isn't forced
into submission via dpkg-redirects, but I have no idea why Gnome thinks it
has the right to seize full desktop control. :-/
I tried to use Gnome back in the day (RH 7.3 or 9 or something - and no, I
don't mean Fedora) but started with KDE under SuSE and have stuck with it.
Still don't like it even though I'd sure save me a lot of trouble if I'd
just go along with the crowd.
Not.
Are there pkgs I can safely remove that might prevent this in the future
(only seen it the one time)?
