Do you have an external mechanical hard drive connected and on?
If the drive goes to sleep, konq will pause to give it time to spin up.

It's not a hardware problem.
setting preloaded instances to zero doesn't help either.
I think it freezes up when it updates the url bar.
I think the widget does the same in other places.
any ideas what bug this is and how to avoid it?

it's very annoying, it takes many seconds to
unfreeze.
Anyone knows what triggers it and how to make it stop when it starts
freezing up.
Are you sure your hdd is OK?
