All true IF you know exactly what you want. But synaptics ability to search
is worth a lot.
synaptic can search as a regular user or you can use "apt-cache search"
from the command line.
Better still is to do some in-depth research before installing ANYTHING.
And I use nano, a lot. sudo nano runs anywhere. As
pointed out previously
this is a rootless install, and I am in the sudo group. But lightdm nor
tdm-trinity know that so I can't use sudo
then. So something is fubar, but what?
Does TDE allow "sudo bash" from konsole? If not what happens?
Personally I prefer to allow local root login with a gnarly password but
I block root ssh login.
