Also, when you click Log Out, are there any
hibernate and/or suspend
buttons visible on the bottom of the logout dialog? That is how I
usually
determine if the Trinity/HAL bindings are installed and working.

Both hibernate and suspend are in the logout dialog.

One more item that may be of use here...can you send me a screenshot of
the following kcontrol page?
Control Center->KDE Components->Service Manager
I am looking for any missing items such as "KDED Media Manager".
