LO-TDE integration never worked for me. Indeed, that file picker in LO is horrible. Filing
a bug
report on LO bug tracker sounds like a good idea.

All LibreOffice integrations for TDE were removed. That means no
native file pickers, the default "ugly" widgets, etc.
As far as I now I have not been using any integration ("Use LibreOffice
dialog
boxes") as an other choice resulted in unusable dialogs. As long as LO
runs I
don't care much for integration.
