Ah, so what you're saying is, konq resets to alpha sorting rather than file
type. After a reboot or the like. No, that doesn't happen here.
What distro are you using?

If you mean the little triangular arrow that
indicates how the column is
sorted (alphabetically, by date, etc., as well as their reverse), the
type of sorting persists on the last column that I click.
Except on type or mimetype, where it just appears to persist: the sort
indicator is on the Type column, but the files are actually sorted by
name, meaning I have to click on the Type column every time.
