I don't know if it was ever there, but right click on the panel and via
properties one can add the icon easily. if spell checking was activated
the
item appears pressed. I think all is fine with that.
There are those who like icons and those who like the keyboard. The other
developers clearly agree with you that the spellchecker is fine and needs
no
work. You yourself obviously don't use this facility at all - only the
red
highlighting.
Hence my original suggestion that it might be something that those of us
who
want it - I at any rate - might be prepared to pay a bounty for. Greg

obviously agrees with me that the disappearance of a menu entry might be
worth a bug report.
