I used WICD, but since WICD and NetworkManager don't conflict in apt,
I kept having both WICD and Network Manager try to launch at the same
time.
I finallyl gave up and just let Network Manger (the default) do the
job. It's passable, if a bit cumbersome to add static addresses to.
