Hi Murray,
As skim has not been ported to KDE3 yet, it must be removed from your
system. You can do that with the following command:
sudo dpkg --purge skim libskim0
Let me know if you run into any difficulties with this.

Hi Murray,
The outdated 3.5.10 version of kdelibs in the Ubuntu archives (including
kdelibs-data) is not compatible with the new KDE3/Trinity version of
kdelibs (which includes kdelibs-data-kde3). Please remove kdelibs-data,
and note which programs will be removed with it. Then try reinstalling
those programs, but with a -kde3 suffix appended. For example,
kolourpaint becomes kolourpaint-kde3.
Hope this helps!
Tim

Hello
I have the same problem(s) (the sudo problem and now this library
problem, in jaunty everything was smooth, but no complain, since I very
much appreciate you efforts)
however it seems that I can't solve the lib problem
for exmaple>
sudo apt-get install kdelibs4c2a-kde3
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
kdelibs4c2a-kde3 is already the newest version.
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libskim0: Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.9) but it is not going to be
installed
skim: Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.9) but it is not going to be
installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or
specify a solution).
so how to I interpret this message?
Then
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop-kde3
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
kubuntu-desktop-kde3 is already the newest version.
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:

I feel uneasy about these messages
finally:

sudo apt-get -f install
