Having read your message I tried q4os. While TDE runs, I can't install kmail (I get a bunch of unsolved dependancies).
Did you get kmail installed?
I didn't try it, because that is not my use case. I need a gui for a few programs for an electrical workbench.

It was a repository problem. I posted a message on the q4os forum and it was repaired very quickly.
