if I clock logout, it.. logs me out. If I click cancel, I go back to my
trinity login session.
Apropos of your Thunderbird problem: it is obviously not a TDE problem as
such, since it also occurs in i3. Have you thought of purging Thunderbird
and installing from upstream? (If you don't know what I mean, just ask.)
But be careful to back up your email!!

Thunderbird is fine, I just had to change the
full-screen to Normal in
the config file.
