hi, thanks for fast reply.
i don't know really if libdvdread3 i used actually works, but atleast it
allowed me to run k3b :) so i'm fine with that for now...
(i'm not usually doing fancy things with k3b, just burning backups or audio
cds)
k3b is, as it is, able to burn simple cd/dvd data discs. but bigger problem
(for me) is with this libavcodec stuff, because right now I can't make k3b
to convert mp3s into wavs at all.. have to do it manually which is a bit
tedious .. :)
thanks,

another application i tried to install was amarok. which also wasn't
succesfull, so i'm forced with amarok 2 for now. this also had lot of
dependcy problems.. but that's another story, which i'm sure people are
already familiar with.

hi,
i'm having some problems with k3b-kde. originally it didn't even start
because libdvdread3 package turned out to be just empty virtual one. i
found
working version from older ubuntu, and got the program to start and burn
things.
but today, I needed to make audio-cd out of mp3s, and k3b spat out an
error.
what I understood is, I need the libk3b3-extracodecs-kde3 package. this
is
in repositories, but it can't be installed
because it requires
libavcodec51,
and on Jaunty there is only libavcodec52.
so, how to fix this, has anyone got it to work?
thanks.

For some reason, k3b will not build natively under Jaunty, as it cannot
find ffmpeg (which is seemingly not even available in Jaunty?) and the
ARtS header files. I am therefore creating those wrapper packages to make
the Intrepid version installable as a stopgap measure. You grabbed an old
version of the virtual libdvdread3 package that was broken; if you tried
it again it would probably work.
I will create a wrapper for libavcodec51 --> libavcodec52 today or
tommorrow.
