The x-kdeuserX file association can be deliberately created when you create a
custom association (that's how it should work). Where the problem comes in is
if you inadvertently click an association property and one of the x-kdeuserX
files is created when you don't want it to. Always worth a check under the
"application" tree in file associations to see if one may have popped up.

When I right click on a file in konqueror and
select a program with which to
open the file, sometimes I get a message "TDE could not launch
<program-name>". Strangely, the program is actually run, but konqueror
becomes
non-responsive (and doesn't even refresh properly on the screen).
Sorry; that should be "TDEInit could not launch..."
What causes this problem? (and how do I fix it?)
