Debian stable is not a good desktop dist *in my opinion*. There.
Either it's outdated or you
include backports which means they are not as thoroughly tested as the
mainline packages or you go testing if you dare partake in a ride that
might get bumpy.
In general the Testing ride appears to be less bumpy than many recent
releases of Ubuntu at the time of release. E.g. 11.10??
Still 11.10 is somewhat of a release which means third party vendors will
recognize it, more or less. The list of certified software for debian testing
is, well, short.
But anyway, you say that Slávek solved your issues, so where is the
problem?
Going to, not has, and I didn't know of his approach when I started the
thread.
