I don't know why it's not working, but you can turn off the secure attention
key by editing (as root) /etc/trinity/kdm/kdmrc and changing UseSAK to false.

I think I had done that before , on another setup, but I couldn't find
that fix..
and on MY system that is not the correct path, it is:
/etc/trinity/tdm/tdmrc
