I've not worked with cd/DVD file systems for many years now, bu I think there was extention to overcome such limitation. I would try to create iso image first and inspect it via loop mount.

Thanks, doing that hadn't occurred to me ! I will try that and let you know. I was doing a drag n drop to a DVD.
