I've never seen that with Konqueror, I have to reload the file tree to see changes. On
the other hand, I get timed out pretty damn quick on an idle ssh connection... I wonder if
there are settings in Konqueror or Kate that can cause the behavior you describe, e.g.
Kate watching for changed files.
