I have observed a similar behavior with my TDE desktops. I worked around the problem by setting the icons for the desktop from the control center instead of from the "configure desktop" by right-clicking at the desktop. There seems to be a disconnect between the desktop and the control center in this regard.
OK, thanks for the info. Can one of you please file a bug report on this?
