I commented it out (as it supposed to be at
non-systemd installations), I rebooted and this time seem to recognize
Pulseaudio. However, it still doesn't work and Kmix indicates it as
"muted". Sliding the bar to the top, doesn't
change anything. G.

which version of TDE are you using? Official R14.0.8? Or preliminary stable or testing
builds from Slavek?
There were issues with kmix and PA which have been addressed partially in R14.0.9-dev and
in more depth in R14.1.0-dev.
