A good general rule is to let things shake out a bit before upgrading to a new distribution. For instance, I run an LTS distribution -- and I wait a full year before upgrading -- ie., I upgraded to 20.04 this spring. There are no extra points or an increase in coolness for being the first person on your block to upgrade.
