it seems that a substantial reason is that your domain got on

There are plenty of completely free web sites that'll show you how (so
don't get sucked into paying some ashhat). After you find an aggregator
who'll give you a report on all the different white/black list services,
you'll usually need to go to the ones that blacklist you directly to
un-blacklist yourself. Startpage, DuckDuckGo, etc... will get you where
you need.
