wow, and it asked for MY password, not ROOT password, and IT RAN!!!
so I searched on trinity, and added the packages that I use from KDE!!
ok, the REAL answer is!!!!! ( are you really ready???)
$ sux - ( enter root password) # synaptic ( oh YES it works!!! )
$ man sux sux - wrapper around su which will transfer your X credentials
