I just got myself a new PC but sadly some of the newer hardware is not yet supported in Debian Stable. I'm considering turning to Debian Testing instead but the question is whether Trinity runs on it? Does anyone have any experience they can share?

Hi Janek, I have been running Debian Testing + TDE development branch since late 2012 (Debian was still Wheezy, TDE was still pre-R14). Never had an issue, works like a charm. If you run Debian Testing, I would suggest you use the PTB archives from Slavek. They will give you the latest TDE, with some functionality which is not in R14.0.x branch.
Cheers Michele
