Not a fix but give MPV a try it seems a little
nicer to me than
mplayer especially if you are on an older distro like Jessie.
I ported kplayer to trinity some time ago - it is my favorite player
(no kmplayer but kplayer). It is also an interface to mplayer, but IMO
better one. The admins were kind to accept the patch.
