For rpm-based
distro, I leave it to Francois to comment on when packages
will be ready, since he is the one putting in
all the (enormous) effort in maintaining those distros.
I'm just waiting for the sources.
About compiling problems, not sure what you are
referring to as "massive
problems". Can you be more specific? Also
which distro do you want to build TDE for?
I want to build for ArchLinux, and if I succeed, I will publish the
PKGBUILD files.
I have just read that the people who tried were not so happy because of the
said library difficulties, for example mentioned here:

In general those, TDE builts pretty well in
Debian, Ubuntu, OpenSuse,
Fedora, CentOS, EL AFAICT.
When the packager did all the work it should run pretty well for sure. :*)
